Why RiskTech100 2027 matters

Dataware has received the RiskTech100 2027 Disruptor Award – Risk Intelligence and Data Management, presented by Chartis Research.

Recognition in the Risk Intelligence and Data Management category is particularly significant because it reflects the intersection of two capabilities that are becoming increasingly difficult to separate in modern compliance processes: having reliable, relevant data and being able to use that data at scale through technology and automation.

For organisations managing screening, monitoring and due diligence, the challenge behind this recognition is very practical: how can these activities be scaled without increasing manual work, operational backlogs and complexity at the same rate??

A significant part of the answer lies in the data. Data needs to do more than simply be available. It must be structured, up to date and ready to work within the systems and processes organisations already use. This is the direction Dataware is pursuing: financial crime data designed from the outset to support automation and integrate with existing systems and workflows.

For Dataware, the award is an important validation of the direction we have taken, but more importantly, a commitment to continue developing it. Because as the volume of information and controls increases, the answer is not simply to have more data. It is to make that data work better for the people and processes that rely on it.

More controls should not mean more manual work

The number of subjects to be screened, the volume of available information and the frequency of updates continue to increase. For compliance teams, this can create a difficult trade-off: greater access to information can also mean more results to review, more changes to assess and more repetitive activities to manage.

Automation can help change that dynamic.

But for an automated process to work effectively, the data feeding it must be structured in a way that systems can interpret and use, rather than simply being presented for human review. This requires careful work on data structure, categorisation, relationships between entities and events, record updates and the way information can be transferred and integrated.

The objective is straightforward: enable teams to spend less time managing information and more time focusing on the situations that genuinely require assessment.

Data designed to work with automation

For Dataware, this principle starts with the way data itself is built.

Not simply data to be consulted, but data designed to work.

Data structured from the outset so it can support screening, monitoring and analysis processes, including when these activities are embedded within an organisation’s own systems and workflows.

We design data with machine use in mind from the outset. This is what we mean by machine-readable data by design: information is organised and structured so that it can be used by technology, not only read by people.

For customers, the benefit is operational: financial crime intelligence can be used within the architecture they already have, reducing the need for manual steps simply to transform information into something the process can use.

From data to usable financial crime intelligence

Structure, however, is only part of the value.
For information to support a meaningful review, it needs to be understood in context: who it relates to, which event it describes, what relationships exist, where the information comes from and how it has changed over time.
This is where data becomes intelligence.

Dataware combines proprietary compliance and financial crime data, context, relationships, expertise and technology to make information more usable within the processes through which customers carry out their checks and reach their own decisions.

The different access methods follow the same principle: the DailyControl™ Suite enables users to work directly with the intelligence, while APIs and Data On-Premise allow it to be embedded into existing systems and processes.

Software, therefore, does not replace the data: its role is to make the data operational.

This approach is consistent with the journey that led SGR Compliance to become Dataware in 2026. The information assets built over more than twenty years remain the foundation of the offering, while technology and integration capabilities are increasingly used to make that intelligence more accessible and actionable.
